Spiral waves are ubiquitous in diverse physical, chemical, and biological systems. The tip (phase singularity) of a spiral wave is considered to represent its organizing center. By starting from a general two-variable reaction-diffusion (RD) equation and the velocity field of topological defects, we derive an analytical expression for the velocity field of spiral tips that is independent of specific models. Using this analytical velocity field, we can predict the velocities of spiral tips at any given time t, provided the values of the relevant variables are known at that moment. These velocity field predictions align with results obtained from numerical simulations of RD models as well as with topological current bifurcation theory. Additionally, we demonstrate that the analytical velocity field of spiral tips can be applied to the Luo-Rudy model, a more realistic representation of cardiac excitation.

潘德贝,博士,广西医科大学基础医学院副教授,2018年博士毕业于浙江大学,主要研究方向为螺旋波动力学及其控制。主持国家自然科学基金青年基金、理论物理专项,广西自然科学基金面上项目及青年基金等多个科研项目。近年来,以第一作者或通讯作者在New Journal of Physics、Physical Review E、Chaos及Physics Letters A等期刊发表多篇相关领域论文。
